Arc Browser to Cease Operations

The Browser Company has announced that it will officially retire its Arc browser on December 22nd, as detailed on the Arc website. After shifting its focus to the AI-driven Dia browser last year, the company had continued to support Arc, but now it’s time to say goodbye to this innovative platform.

The shutdown will occur in phases. Starting today, new Arc accounts can no longer be created. On November 23rd, users on iOS and Android will see the Browse for Me feature and other AI functionalities disabled, and signing in or syncing tabs will no longer be possible. By December 22nd, the Arc browser will be completely unavailable on macOS and Windows, Arc accounts will be deactivated, and Arc Search for Android will be removed from Google Play.

For those looking to transition to Dia, the Browser Company has provided an FAQ on how to import your data. The focus is now entirely on Dia, which includes the efforts of their entire security team.

Arc was known for its ambitious ideas, many of which have since influenced other browsers. For users seeking a similar experience, the Zen browser, built on Mozilla’s Gecko engine, is often recommended. Last year, The Browser Company was acquired by Atlassian for $610 million.
