Embark Studios has responded to player feedback by increasing the frequency of the elusive Bird City map modifier event in Arc Raiders, which had been difficult to encounter in certain time zones.
Bird City was introduced in the Headwinds update, adding flocks of birds to the Buried City map along with unique Rubber Ducks to collect and other sellable items. However, the event’s restrictive time slots made it challenging for many players, particularly in Europe, to participate, as they often coincided with standard work hours.
Fortunately, Embark has made adjustments. In a recent Discord message addressing “an issue” with the map conditions schedule, it was noted that players would have an easier time encountering Bird City moving forward.
“We just pushed an update enabling this week’s schedule while also increasing the frequency of Bird City. No download required, but please restart your game to update,” community lead Ossen stated. “We will continue to revise the schedule to ensure all time zones have a chance to play. There is no store rotation or patch this week, but stay tuned for next week’s update. See you Topside.”
According to the updated event schedule, Bird City now boasts a significant increase in availability—there are now nine daily one-hour slots for the map modifier instead of just three. While it would be ideal for events to be randomized rather than locked to specific hours, at least players in Europe now have a better shot at experiencing this event.
“Was it worth it? Not really”: One dedicated player spent “2 months and 300 hours” chasing an ultra-rare achievement that only 14 others have managed to unlock, and it was a frustrating experience.
