Next time you jump into Arc Raiders, consider ringing a bell every time you engage in PvP or savoring the moment when you get shot in the head. According to a prominent neurology professor, the game has significant psychological implications, as shared by Embark Studios’ CEO, Patrick Söderlund.

“I’ve come across several articles suggesting that Arc Raiders functions almost like a social experiment, and I find that fascinating,” Söderlund mentioned in a recent chat. “I genuinely appreciate that perspective. Just a few days ago, I had dinner with a well-known neurology professor who had learned about the game and remarked, ‘You have no idea what you’ve created. Forget about the game itself.'”

He elaborated, “The concept of psychological and social experimentation is central to what this game represents. My friend suggested that we should collaborate with medical professionals to study the behaviors triggered in Arc Raiders.”

I can definitely envision an Arc Raiders collaboration featuring an electroencephalogram cap skin or a map that serves as an operant conditioning chamber. However, Söderlund noted, “We might not take it that far. That wouldn’t directly relate to the game, but it highlights a fundamental aspect of why this game has resonated with players.”

Meanwhile, Arc Raiders faces criticism as an infinite ammo exploit emerges following a fix for a duplication glitch, raising concerns about the studio’s handling of cheaters.
