Arc Raiders Unveils Major Update Featuring New Map and Giant Enemy

Embark Studios has revealed exciting details about the upcoming Riven Tides update for Arc Raiders, set to launch on April 28. This update promises to be the most significant enhancement since the game’s debut last October.

Riven Tides brings two highly anticipated features: a brand-new map and a formidable new Arc enemy. The map, aptly named Riven Tides, is located in the Rust Belt and includes a coastline, a resort, and a dockyard, providing players with fresh environments to explore and battle through. The trailer hints at a distinct atmosphere compared to previous maps in Arc Raiders.

The new Arc enemy, the Arc Turbine, fulfills Embark’s commitment to introduce a large Arc before the end of April. This cone-shaped foe appears to be a tough challenge, equipped with flight capabilities and defensive measures to fend off raiders pursuing it. For those who prefer a more laid-back approach, the Riven Tides map introduces a minor condition that allows players to search for loot using the Dockmaster’s Detector.

Additionally, the update will feature a new five-stage raider project called Avian Alarm, fresh cosmetics, PSSR support for PlayStation 5 Pro, and the launch of a new Expedition window running until May 11. A limited-time event named Last Resort will take place from April 28 to May 25, encouraging players to collect ship models to earn Merits, which can be exchanged for Raider Tokens, the Junior Outfit, and the Hydrologist backpack.

Despite having stepped away from Embark’s extraction shooter recently, these substantial updates are drawing me back in more than any other this year. The Riven Tides update will be available for Arc Raiders on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X on Tuesday, April 28.

This update could redefine the extraction shooter genre in a way similar to how Fortnite transformed battle royales.
