Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced to Introduce a Wealth of Modern Accessibility Options
Ubisoft has revealed a host of new accessibility features set to debut in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, launching on July 9.
This updated version introduces several enhancements not found in the original Black Flag, particularly aimed at addressing concerns raised by accessibility advocates. Among the key features are colorblind options that adjust not only the UI but also all color-coded effects in the game, including special attacks and the visual cues from Eagle Vision. Resynced will also offer optional screen narration, enhanced subtitles with a new “Largest” size option, and gameplay captions that describe events that may not be visually apparent. Players will find a toggleable camera dot, hold and toggle modes to simplify certain gameplay actions for those who struggle with specific button combinations, and the ability to skip quick-time events. There’s a lot to explore!
Additionally, some features may benefit players who don’t typically consider accessibility options. For example, tutorials will now be accessible in the Codex section at any time, allowing players to refresh their skills after a break. Controller remapping has seen improvements, offering better customization than the original, including the ability to invert the sticks (which was surprisingly absent before). There are also different, customizable difficulty settings for various gameplay elements, such as stealth and sailing.
And if you’re not a fan of shark attacks, you can now skip those encounters. Fantastic news!
Overall, these updates are a positive step forward, aligning with the trend in recent Assassin’s Creed titles that have embraced deeper accessibility customization as Ubisoft and the gaming industry have become more attuned to accessibility needs over the past decade.
