Author of A Court of Thorns and Roses Unveils Covers for Books 6 and 7
It’s been over five years since Sarah J. Maas released a new installment in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. Following 2021’s A Court of Silver Flames, her recent works have shifted focus to the Crescent City series. But the wait for more ACOTAR content is nearly at an end, as Maas has confirmed exciting news.
Fans of romantic fantasy can rejoice: Maas announced that the sixth book in the series will be titled A Court of Splintered Harmony, set to release on October 27, 2026, followed by A Court of Forgotten Melody on January 12, 2027.
These upcoming titles will kick off The Valkyrie Cycle, a fresh storyline that continues the ACOTAR saga. Maas shared the titles and covers in a series of Instagram posts, and digital billboards promoting the books have appeared in major cities like Los Angeles, Denver, and New York City.
During a March appearance on a podcast, Maas explained the unique structure of the new books, describing them as one expansive, continuous narrative rather than a conventional trilogy. A Court of Splintered Harmony will present the first movement of the story, while A Court of Forgotten Melody will encompass the second and third movements. A third, yet-to-be-titled book will complete the final movement.
Maas teased A Court of Splintered Harmony with the intriguing line, “What was broken will be remade,” while A Court of Forgotten Melody hints at the promise, “What was lost will be reclaimed.”
The descriptions indicate that Koschei the Deathless will serve as the primary antagonist throughout both books. In A Court of Splintered Harmony, his influence begins to spread across the Fae territories as Prythian struggles to heal from the Hybern War, with internal conflicts within the Night Court complicating a united response.
By the time we reach A Court of Forgotten Melody, those alliances are further unraveling. The Night Court’s Inner Circle is scattered, desperately seeking an edge against Koschei and his allies, while old foes reemerge, making the prospect of peace increasingly tenuous.
Maas has yet to disclose which characters will take the spotlight in these new installments, leaving fans eagerly speculating. Both books are currently available for preorder through major retailers.
Finally, a chance to settle your book club’s fae allegiances!
