Avatar: Seven Havens Secures Renewal for Two Additional Seasons Due to Popular Demand

It’s an exciting time for fans of the Avatar universe. The creators of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, brought the original Gaang back together for Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender in July. On October 9, Avatar: Seven Havens, a daring post-apocalyptic sequel to The Legend of Korra, debuted to rave reviews. During a panel at New York Comic Con, DiMartino and Konietzko shared thrilling updates about the new series and the franchise’s future.

Avatar: Seven Havens has already been greenlit for two seasons, each consisting of 13 episodes. The first three episodes dropped on October 9, with new episodes from Book 1: Survival set to release every Friday until October 30. Early plot revelations suggest a more expansive narrative, and Paramount has extended the series through Book 4.

This new installment leans more into mystery than its predecessors, gradually uncovering the secrets of Avatar Pavi’s history, the essence of the Seven Havens, and the events that led to the world’s devastation. Fans eager for insights and behind-the-scenes content can listen to the official companion podcast, Avatar: Braving the Elements, hosted by Janet Varney, the original voice of Korra, and Dante Basco, who voiced Prince Zuko in Avatar: The Last Airbender. New episodes featuring interviews with the creators and cast will be available weekly.

Konietzko also announced that he will be the showrunner for Avatar Kuruk: Wave of Chaos, a new animated series from Avatar Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studios. Set centuries before Aang’s time, this series follows a rebellious teenage Avatar from the Northern Water Tribe as he defies tradition to master the elements while exploring the world. Accompanied by his pet, Nikik, Kuruk faces challenges from his own frustrated teachers while navigating encounters with spirits and pirates.

Kuruk was first introduced in season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender, with references to him appearing in season 1 through the sinister spirit Koh, who stole the face of Kuruk’s fiancée. This new series is expected to delve deeper into that conflict and showcase the adventurous spirit that made Avatar: The Last Airbender so beloved.
