Baldur’s Gate 3 Devs Share Most-Killed NPCs by Players
Baldur’s Gate 3 has just hit its three-year milestone, and developer Larian Studios took to social media to share some fresh player stats. While this year’s numbers might not be as wild as last year’s revelation that 250,000 players gave Withers a unique makeover, they still provide some fascinating insights into player behavior, particularly regarding the fate of the bard, Alfira.
Alfira met her end in 48% of Dark Urge runs, and Larian noted that “more non-Dark Urge players have managed to murder Alfira than Dark Urge players.” It seems that regardless of the path chosen, her survival is not guaranteed. Dark Urge players have fully embraced their role-playing instincts, with a staggering 62% of them taking out Selûne cleric Isobel, 48% eliminating tiefling leader Zevlor, 32% dispatching gnome Wulbren, and 30% offing kobold trader Popper.
In terms of story NPCs, Larian shared the most frequently killed characters. Zevlor met his demise a staggering 12.31 million times, followed by tiefling wizard Rolan at 8.62 million, Isobel at 7.2 million, Volo at 4.62 million, and poor Alfira at 2.62 million.
Fortunately, not all the stats revolve around death. Larian also revealed that players have downloaded mods an impressive 500 million times, a significant jump from 265 million last year, accompanied by an image of a bald Lae’zel looking as fierce as ever.
For those curious about more quirky insights, there are tidbits like the Poo-Scraper being used just four times in combat during Act 3 and a few players managing to save over 560 times in a single playthrough—talk about save-scumming!
If you haven’t joined the ranks of the over 20 million players who have dived into Baldur’s Gate 3 yet, now is a great time to jump in, especially with the game currently on sale for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
