Baldur’s Gate 3 Director Advocates for AI Experimentation in Game Development

In the wake of recent comments about AI that stirred up quite a discussion, Larian Studios cofounder Swen Vincke has shared more about the studio’s stance on this hot topic. He also mentioned plans for an AMA next year to dive deeper into fan questions.

Here’s what he had to say:

It’s been a week since we revealed Divinity, our upcoming RPG, and some of our messages may have gotten a bit muddled.

At Larian, our core belief is about player agency. Everything we do is aimed at enhancing the experience for our teams, our games, and our players. We strive for better workdays and better games. Our achievements stem from empowering individuals to work in their own unique ways, allowing their skills and creativity to shine, so we can craft the best RPGs possible.

In this light, it’s crucial for us to explore new technologies. Our processes are continually evolving, and if we find areas that aren’t efficient or don’t align with our values, we’ll make the necessary adjustments.

To provide more clarity, we’ll host an AMA featuring various departments after the holiday break, where you can ask us anything about Divinity and our development process.

We’ll share the date in the new year. Until then, happy holidays to everyone!
