Baldur’s Gate 3 Expands with Stunning New Magic Cards
Magic: The Gathering is back at it with a new Secret Lair drop inspired by Baldur’s Gate 3, featuring beloved party members like Gale and Shadowheart.
The “Roll For Initiative” drop isn’t limited to just BG3 characters; Gale and Shadowheart each get five unique cards, alongside a variety of other classic D&D characters in a massive seven-part release that boasts around 30 new cards in total.
These cards will hit the market on February 9 at 9 a.m. Pacific time, but the sets featuring Shadowheart and Gale are definitely the highlights. They join fellow BG3 characters Karlach and Astarion, who have previously appeared in Secret Lair drops. Personally, I can’t resist the allure of the Gale cards, even if one of them features a nod to his astral projection scene from the game. The card humorously reads, “Why confine ourselves to the pleasures of mortal flesh?” beneath an image of Gale striking a rather bold pose. Wild.
In addition to the BG3 heroes, there are also sets themed around various characters and locations from the Forgotten Realms, available for individual purchase or bundled together, with prices ranging from $199.99 to $464.99 based on your preferences.
While I’m not a regular Magic player, this marks my third time picking up a Secret Lair drop, following the Sonic and Last of Us sets released last year. I get that some hardcore fans might be frustrated with the game’s crossover trend, but for me, these cards are just cool collectibles featuring characters I enjoy.
