Baldur’s Gate 3 Will Not Launch on Switch 2
In October 2025, there were whispers that Larian Studios’ acclaimed RPG, Baldur’s Gate 3, might be making its way to Nintendo’s Switch 2. However, those rumors have been debunked, as Larian has confirmed that the beloved D&D title will not be available on the new console. During a recent AMA on Reddit, Baldur’s Gate 3 director Swen Vincke shared that while the team was eager to develop a Switch 2 port, the decision was ultimately out of their hands. “We would have loved to [bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Switch 2], but [it] wasn’t our decision to make,” Vincke stated. This suggests that the port was likely rejected by either Nintendo or Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast, who hold the rights to all Dungeons & Dragons content.
In another part of the Reddit session, Vincke mentioned that the “smaller” project the team had in mind after Baldur’s Gate 3 was “another DnD game, but that ship has sailed.” Last month, Larian launched an enhanced version of Divinity: Original Sin II on Switch 2 and other modern platforms. As revealed during The Game Awards, Larian is now focusing on a new Divinity title. Vincke recently expressed that the success of Baldur’s Gate 3 has created a sense of pressure to surpass it with their upcoming project. “It’s more pressure,” he remarked. “The weight of the expectations weighs high. We’re trying not to think about it, because we have to make our own thing.” Currently, there is no release date for the new Divinity game.
