Baldur’s Gate 3’s Warlock class will miss a fan-favorite D&D feature.
Baldur’s Gate 3 stands as the pinnacle of Dungeons & Dragons video games, and anyone who disagrees has a tough case to make. It captures the essence of D&D perfectly: offering players freedom, a rich branching narrative, and countless dice rolls for skill checks.
One of the standout features that players adore in Larian Studios’ creation is its romance options. However, the upcoming game Warlock, developed by Invoke Studios, won’t be following that trend. So, for those hoping to see Kaatri and Tasha in a romantic light, it looks like you’re out of luck.
In a recent interview, the studio head at Invoke Studios, Dominic Guay, shared that “romancing is out of the question for now in her life,” as Kaatri is focused on a quest that drives her character. While Warlock is an open-world game, it offers a more linear experience compared to Baldur’s Gate 3, featuring a single core storyline.
Guay mentioned that Kaatri will encounter various characters along her journey, not just foes. He pointed out Skev, an imp who will accompany her, as an example of a developing relationship: “There’s going to be a growing relationship there, but there are no actual romancing options within those relationships.”
When asked about Kaatri’s character development, Guay noted that while she is dedicated to her quests, players will uncover deeper layers of her personality. He emphasized that having a well-written story allows for detailed exploration of her character through cinematics, ensuring that key story moments are effectively conveyed.
In summary, while Dungeons & Dragons serves as a backdrop for Warlock, it won’t dictate every aspect of the game, as the developers aim to create a more tailored experience. This also means that the game will be shorter than the typical Dungeons & Dragons campaign.
