After a strong launch, Battlefield 6 faced a setback with the delay of Season 2, which was originally set for January but has now been pushed to February 17. With competition from titles like Arc Raiders and the upcoming Marathon, developers are aiming for a more streamlined rollout moving forward.

“We reviewed the content planned for Season 2 and decided it needed a bit more time to polish and meet player expectations,” said Phil Girette, producer at DICE.

“Planning seasons involves a lot of coordination, including marketing and timing, which affects not just the game but many other aspects,” he added. “We’re committed to ensuring that players receive new content promptly once a season concludes.”

In essence, steps have been taken to prevent future delays. Managing a game as expansive as Battlefield 6 requires constant attention to player engagement with existing modes while also developing new content to keep the FPS experience fresh and exciting.

Introducing two new maps and two new modes demands significant effort in development and playtesting. On top of internal quality checks, there’s the added challenge of competing games vying for players’ attention. Developers are acutely aware that if players drift away, they may not return, no matter the updates.

Fortunately, Season 2 of Battlefield 6 is packed with content for players to dive into. With any luck, the upcoming roadmap from the development team will remain on track.

Season 2 finally brings a substantial map and more, but for those who dislike being poisoned or shot in the dark, brace yourselves: you’re in for a rough time.
