Battlefield 6 Season 2 Launch Pushed Back for Additional Development Time Following Player Feedback
EA has announced an extension for Season 1 of Battlefield 6, which means the release of Season 2 will be pushed back. The new season is now set to arrive about a month later than originally planned, allowing the developers more time to incorporate player feedback into the upcoming content.
“The first season will now continue until Season 2 launches on February 17, with the extension update rolling out on January 20,” EA stated. “This delay is intended to provide additional time for the development and refinement of Season 2 based on community input.” Specific changes resulting from this extra time have not been detailed yet.
The Season 1 extension update will bring a range of “fixes and stability improvements,” as hinted in an official blog post, though specifics are still under wraps. To keep players engaged, the extension will feature minor incentives like daily login rewards, double XP weekends, a duos-themed Valentine’s Day event, and a Portal showcase.
One of the key highlights for the extended Season 1 is the Frostfire bonus path, which players can complete alongside the Season 1 battle pass. This path will unlock a weapon package, a soldier skin, and some XP boosts.
Overall, Battlefield 6’s launch has been a significant success, but some post-launch challenges have begun to emerge. Players have voiced concerns about “hollow and low effort” new artwork, the current map selection feeling stale, and ongoing balance issues. Here’s hoping Season 2 can help revitalize the experience.
