Battlefield 6 Season 2 Postponed, Expanding Season 1 with New Challenges, Cosmetics, and Double XP Rewards
As previously mentioned, the update for Battlefield 6’s Season 2 has been pushed back. The developer has announced a new update that will extend the current season, introducing additional battle pass content, fresh weekly challenges, and some double XP to keep players engaged until the new season kicks off. The Season 1 extension update for Battlefield 6 and Redsec is set to launch on January 20, the original end date for the season. This means players will have access to new weekly challenges, extra time to complete the Season 1 battle pass, and a new Frostfire bonus path to tackle.
The Frostfire bonus path will offer free rewards such as a hardware XP boost, a vehicle skin, and player-card customization items. Those who own the paid pass can look forward to a new weapon package, a career XP boost, and additional cosmetics. Players can work on the Frostfire path simultaneously with the Season 1 battle pass. Unlike previous bonus paths, all points for the Frostfire path will be earned through the new weekly challenges that will be introduced.
Additionally, Battlefield 6 will roll out a new set of daily login rewards and host several Double XP weekend events during this extended update period. The developer also hinted at plans to celebrate the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday. Battlefield 6 had a solid launch, even surpassing Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in sales in the US through November, but the post-launch content for Season 1 received mixed feedback. The final phase of content arrived just before the winter holidays, but it brought along a range of issues that impacted gameplay. This situation also led to the postponement of Battlefield 6’s $1 million tournament series for Redsec.
The developer stated that it will enhance Battlefield Labs as a public preview for future game updates once they reach the late stages of development. “Both the Season 1 extension and the use of Battlefield Labs will lay the groundwork for new and exciting content throughout our live seasons, including what will come in Season 2,” the developer noted. Season 2 is now set to launch on February 17, with new details expected to be revealed next month. While specifics remain unclear, the Season 2 update is anticipated to bring more maps, weapons, and new game modes.
