Beloved Fortnite Feature Makes a Comeback in Chapter 7 Season 4

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 is just around the corner, and after countless hours spent gathering sprites in Chapter 7 Season 3, players have been eager to know if their hard-earned progress would carry over into the new season and whether sprites would still be a part of the game. Epic Games has put those concerns to rest by confirming that players will retain their sprite collections in Chapter 7 Season 4, along with the introduction of even more adorable creatures to collect.

With each new season of Fortnite, Epic Games introduces fresh mechanics and weapons to keep the gameplay exciting, especially for long-time fans. Chapter 7 Season 3 brought sprites into the mix—collectible creatures that grant unique perks when equipped. Players were on a quest to find these little beings to complete their sprite collections. While equipped, players earn XP through survival, eliminations, and looting, ultimately mastering their sprites to unlock their full potential. To save their progress with a sprite, players must either win the match or extract it, allowing them to keep their experience and earn Sprite Dust, which can be used for rewards.

As Chapter 7 Season 4 kicks off, a new getaway island called Sprite Garden will be introduced, themed around Gaming Legends. This island will serve as a place for players to visit and interact with their sprites. Epic has mentioned that sprites from Season 3 will be “immortalized” on this island, indicating that even if some sprites are vaulted from Battle Royale in the future, they will still be accessible in the Sprite Garden.

Season 4 is set to expand the sprite roster, with several new sprites already revealed. The five winners of the Design-A-Sprite contest will see their creations featured throughout the upcoming season, showcasing their concepts in the community.

While sprites have been a hit this season, opinions within the community are mixed regarding their return. Although sprites add a fun element to the game, the grind to collect them can be overwhelming. Players need to be mindful of power hours to snag the rarest sprites, which can sometimes feel more like a chore than enjoyable gameplay. Many fans have expressed feeling burnt out from the sprite hunting experience. However, the fear of missing out (FOMO) is prevalent in live service games, leading some players to invest excessive time in collecting rather than simply enjoying the game.
