Ben Affleck and Matt Damon navigate a web of deception in the trailer for Netflix’s thriller, The Rip.
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are back together in Netflix’s upcoming thriller, The Rip, and the first full trailer has just dropped. Featuring a stellar cast and a narrative inspired by real events, the trailer hints at high-stakes action and shocking betrayals as a life-altering sum of money turns allies into adversaries.
In the trailer, we see Damon and Affleck as police officers whose lives spiral out of control after they stumble upon a $20 million stash during a mission. The footage showcases a frantic race to secure the cash, putting their lives in grave danger.
According to the official logline: “Upon discovering millions in cash in a derelict stash house, trust among a team of Miami cops begins to fray. As outside forces learn about the size of the seizure, everything is called into question – including who they can rely on.”
Directed by Joe Carnahan, The Rip also features Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins, and Kyle Chandler.
The thriller previously teased its gripping storyline with a first teaser trailer released in September, highlighting its impressive cast. With just days to go until its Netflix premiere, the official trailer confirms that this is one of the most anticipated releases of early 2026.
This excitement is fueled by the iconic on-screen and off-screen chemistry between Damon and Affleck, which began with their Oscar-winning film Good Will Hunting in the ’90s. They recently shared the screen in Ridley Scott’s 2021 medieval drama The Last Duel and Affleck’s 2023 true-story dramedy Air.
Damon is also set to star in one of the most awaited films of 2026, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, where he takes on the role of Odysseus, the legendary Greek king of Ithaca.
The Rip is set to hit Netflix on January 16.
