After a rocky launch, Bethesda is making significant strides with Skyrim on Switch 2. A new patch introduces a game-changing feature: it unlocks 60fps for the RPG, leaving players amazed.

In the patch notes for update 1.2 on Switch 2, the standout feature is a 60 Hz mode that allows you to choose between “Prioritize Visuals” or “Prioritize Performance.” While it sounds simple, the latter option works wonders by unlocking 60fps in both docked and handheld modes.

This news is spreading rapidly through the community, as many players continue to enjoy Skyrim on modern hardware. If there wasn’t a demand, Bethesda wouldn’t keep bringing it back, right? The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

“Thanks to the team and Bethesda for listening and making this huge improvement. If you were hesitant about playing this on Switch 2, it’s definitely worth it!” shares one excited fan on Reddit, who even posted a clip showcasing the enhanced visuals on handheld.

“I wanna cry, it’s beautiful,” adds another commenter on Reddit. There’s something truly impressive about seeing the fifth mainline Elder Scrolls game still looking great after more than fifteen years.

This port should have launched with these features included. Skyrim hit Nintendo’s platform in a less-than-ideal state, and the update also addresses several crash issues, which hasn’t gone unnoticed. “Bethesda doing the bare minimum again,” remarks one fan on Twitter.

At least anyone picking it up now can enjoy shouting, “Fus Ro Dah!” on the go at 60fps, rather than just to random passersby. Or is that just me?
