Beyond Good & Evil 2 director assures fans of an “exceptional gaming experience” despite recent Ubisoft changes.
Beyond Good and Evil 2’s creative director, Fawzi Mesmar, has confirmed that the game is still in active development, even as Ubisoft has recently canceled six other titles in a significant company overhaul.
Ubisoft stated that “Beyond Good & Evil 2 remains a priority for us in the context of our strategy centered around Open World Adventures.” However, given the company’s previous reassurances about the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake before its abrupt cancellation, many are understandably skeptical about these claims.
Mesmar took to LinkedIn to clarify that his team is still hard at work on the game, which has been in the pipeline for nearly 18 years since the sequel was first hinted at. He expressed gratitude to those who reached out regarding the recent news, stating, “Myself, my team and our project Beyond Good and Evil 2 are unaffected by the recent changes. I would direct you to the official press release for more information around the latest organisational structure.”
He also extended his sympathies to those impacted by the restructuring, saying, “Needless to say, I am saddened by the cancellations that have affected my colleagues in other parts of Ubisoft and the industry. I urge everyone – myself included – to offer support whenever and however they can during these times.”
In closing, Mesmar emphasized the team’s dedication to creating an exceptional game, stating, “We remain committed and focused on delivering a remarkable game for our players to enjoy.” Let’s hope it lives up to the nearly two-decade wait.
