Blade Runner Set for a 2027 Comeback with an Innovative Experience
Behaviour Interactive is trading in its horror roots for a futuristic adventure in 2027, teaming up with extended reality (XR) innovator PHI Studio to unveil a groundbreaking Blade Runner experience.
Both Behaviour and PHI Studios hail from Quebec and have secured the rights to the Blade Runner intellectual property from Alcon Entertainment. This partnership aims to create a “multisensory experience” that promises to immerse visitors in stunning visuals and a compelling narrative.
By merging Behaviour’s creative prowess with PHI Studio’s XR technology expertise, the collaboration will blend physical and virtual realms. XR includes a range of digital technologies such as augmented reality (AR), mixed reality (MR), and virtual reality (VR), all designed to craft immersive experiences that engage multiple senses.
For Behaviour, known for its asymmetrical multiplayer horror title Dead by Daylight, this venture marks a significant departure from its traditional gaming focus.
“Blade Runner is a work that has shaped the collective imagination,” Behaviour stated in a release. “We are honored to collaborate with Alcon Entertainment and PHI Studio to deliver an experience that pushes the boundaries of immersion. This project also marks a new chapter in Behaviour’s positioning beyond video games.”
Since its debut in 1982, Blade Runner has captivated audiences with its stunning aesthetic, intricate world-building, and profound storytelling. Behaviour has shown its ability to explore diverse narrative techniques in its past games, while PHI Studio is celebrated for its innovative use of technology. Here’s hoping this collaboration results in something extraordinary, as we wouldn’t want those unforgettable moments to fade away… like tears in rain.
While a specific launch date for the experience remains under wraps, it is expected to roll out in several North American cities starting in 2027. Additionally, Blade Runner 2099, an original series for Amazon Prime, is also set to premiere in 2027, with the limited series being penned and executive produced by one of the creators of Paramount Plus’ Halo.
