Blizzard reveals a sneak peek of the next Overwatch hero.

The next hero set to join the Overwatch roster will be fully unveiled on April 8 at 9 a.m. PDT, as announced by Blizzard Entertainment. This reveal will showcase the game’s upcoming Damage-role character, currently referred to as “Hero 51,” along with hints about her abilities.

For the past couple of months, players have only seen Hero 51 in silhouette, but the complete artwork provides a clearer view of her kit. She wields a pronged weapon resembling an energy sniper rifle and is accompanied by a drone that looks like a flying fish. With her strikingly long pink and brown braids and a military-style uniform, she gives off vibes reminiscent of Widowmaker dressed as Cammy from Street Fighter—or simply Cammy in pants.

A logo on her vest reveals her affiliation with Helix Security International, a private security firm backed by the United Nations. Helix previously operated the high-security prison that once held Akande Ogundimu, also known as Doomfist, who was freed by Reaper. Notably, Pharah is a former member of Helix.

Hero 51 is expected to join Overwatch with the launch of season 2, which is anticipated to start on April 15.

In February, Blizzard relaunched Overwatch, dropping the “2” from the title and introducing five new heroes: Domina (Tank), Anran (Damage), Emre (Damage), Jetpack Cat (Support), and Mizuki (Support). The developer has plans to add a total of 10 new heroes to the game by 2026.

The teaser for Hero 51 comes on the heels of an announcement regarding a new expansion of Overwatch’s lore, in collaboration with a webcomic company, which will continue the ongoing Reign of Talon storyline.

The heroes of Overwatch are left scrambling after Vendetta’s assault.
