Blood of Dawnwalker to Introduce 60FPS Mode Following Player Feedback
In 2026, one of the most anticipated titles was nearly set to launch without a 60fps mode. *The Blood of Dawnwalker* was initially capped at 40fps, even on the PlayStation 5 Pro. However, a wave of player feedback prompted developer Rebel Wolves to accelerate the development of a higher framerate option.
The studio recently dropped a new gameplay trailer showcasing the vampire RPG’s visuals on console. While some gamers debated the quality of the open-world footage, many were disappointed by the absence of a 60fps performance mode. One comment on YouTube expressed frustration: “That opening clip stating 2 modes are available with one targeting 30fps and one targeting 40fps on PS5 Pro confirms that this is absolutely gonna be a game I buy on PC instead if I decide to buy it lol. I much prefer to buy physical though, so it’s a pity.”
In response, Rebel Wolves reassured fans that a 60fps mode is indeed in the works, though it wasn’t ready to be confirmed for the launch on September 3. “*The Blood of Dawnwalker* will receive a Performance Mode targeting 60 FPS on PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X on Day 1 through the launch patch,” the game’s official account announced on August 24. “On Friday, we answered your questions about console performance with what we knew we could confidently deliver at launch.”
The developers elaborated, “Performance Mode was already in development, but it was still undergoing testing. We simply weren’t prepared to promise it yet. We heard your feedback, and it was clear how much this mattered to many of you, so we focused on completing the next round of tests. Those results gave us the confidence we needed to confirm Performance Mode for Day 1.”
The original trailer on YouTube has since been set to private, but players eagerly awaiting the game are relieved to know they’ll have the option to experience the combat-heavy RPG with a smoother frame rate. Personally, I played through *The Witcher 3*, which shares a visual style with *The Blood of Dawnwalker* and was developed by the same team, on console at 30fps without feeling disappointed. The later 60fps version for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S was fantastic, but a great game remains enjoyable regardless of frame count.
The only concern is why *Dawnwalker*’s 60fps mode was in development but not ready for launch. Day-one releases have become increasingly unpredictable. *The Witcher 3* certainly had its share of issues at launch. Here’s hoping *Dawnwalker* delivers a smoother experience right out of the gate.
