Blood of Dawnwalker Unleashes Major Update
Just over a month after announcing a significant post-launch patch for The Blood of Dawnwalker, developer Rebel Wolves has rolled out update 1.1. This highly anticipated overhaul for the vampire RPG introduces new features, system enhancements, and, most importantly, the ability to pet animals.
While Rebel Wolves had hinted that update 1.1 would arrive sometime this week, they surprised fans by launching it this morning without prior notice. Console gamers can rejoice as the update is now available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, in addition to PC. Among the confirmed highlights are a new difficulty setting, the ability to pet both cats and dogs, and a feature to reset abilities. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
The extensive patch notes detail over 1,100 fixes and improvements, organized into sections like new features, miscellaneous, general, gameplay, quests, narrative, art, audio, plugin, and stability. While it’s impossible to cover everything, here are a few noteworthy points.
One notable absence from the patch notes is the much-requested New Game Plus feature. Rebel Wolves is considering this option, but there’s no definitive timeline on when or if it will be implemented in The Blood of Dawnwalker.
The studio has also revealed that Coen’s story is intended to be part of a series that extends beyond the initial game. They are actively seeking new talent to help develop the next chapter, which will explore Coen in a different time period. As hinted in a post-credits scene, Coen continues into the modern era, leaving plenty of room for new adventures.
One of the more controversial aspects of The Blood of Dawnwalker may not carry over into future titles. The RPG features a time mechanic that restricts how much players can accomplish before confronting the final boss. While this design choice encourages players to move away from a completionist mindset, it has received mixed reactions. Rebel Wolves has indicated that they are not committed to this mechanic and will not include it in every game if it doesn’t fit.
