Bloodaxe, the latest series from the creator of Vikings, is set to debut on Prime Video in January.

Fans of epic Norse tales have something exciting on the horizon. *Bloodaxe*, a new historical action series crafted by the creator of *Vikings*, Michael Hirst, is set to launch on Prime Video on January 20, 2027.

The first teaser trailer dropped during a panel at New York Comic Con, where Hirst, co-showrunner Horatio Hirst, and cast members Xavier Molyneux, Jessica Madsen, and Levi Miller shared insights about the show. All eight episodes of the inaugural season will be available on the same day.

Set in 10th-century Norway, *Bloodaxe* chronicles the ascent of Erik Bloodaxe (Molyneux), a Norse raider determined to seize the Norwegian throne with the help of his wife, Gunnhild, Mother of Kings (Madsen). Their journey is fraught with rivalries, shifting alliances, and brutal betrayals, drawing in rulers from across Scandinavia and a formidable English king.

Similar to *Vikings*, Hirst’s latest series delves into the rich history and legends of the Norse world, focusing on political intrigue and fierce battles. Hirst previously created the original *Vikings* series, which captivated audiences for six seasons from 2013 to 2020, and later took on the role of executive producer for its sequel, *Vikings: Valhalla*.

*Bloodaxe* has already been renewed for a second season, which is currently being filmed in Ireland. The cast also features Karlis Arnolds Avots, Rod Hallett, Alina Tomnikov, Sisse Marie, Rune Temte, and Jesper Christensen.

Mark your calendars for January 20, 2027, when *Bloodaxe* premieres exclusively on Prime Video.
