Borderlands 4 Could Come to Switch 2, But Fixes Take Precedence First

Borderlands 4 was initially set to be a standout title for the Switch 2’s launch year, but its release has been unexpectedly delayed and is currently on hold. Take Two’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, mentioned that bringing the game to the Switch 2 is “doable,” but the platform isn’t among the “primary” consoles that Gearbox Entertainment is focusing on.

“We want to be wherever the consumer is, and we’ve supported Switch 2,” Zelnick stated in a recent interview. “You can see from our actions that our main console priorities remain with Sony and Microsoft.”

This suggests that a port of Grand Theft Auto 6 to the Switch 2 is unlikely to happen anytime soon, leaving many fans hoping for the arrival of this highly anticipated title on Nintendo’s hybrid system.

However, there’s still a chance for Borderlands 4. Zelnick clarified that the “pause” in development doesn’t mean the project is canceled; instead, Gearbox is prioritizing addressing player feedback on other platforms first. “We’ve been tackling those issues, and we want to ensure that we’ve fully addressed Borderlands 4 from a consumer perspective before expanding to more platforms,” he explained.

It’s reassuring to know that the delay isn’t due to technical issues, though the timeline for Borderlands 4’s release on Switch 2 remains uncertain.
