Bubblegum and Marceline are set to star in their own Adventure Time series!

Bubbline enthusiasts, get ready to celebrate: Princess Bubblegum and Marceline the Vampire Queen are set to star in their very own series!

At the Annecy Animation Festival, it was revealed that HBO Max has greenlit a new animated series titled Adventure Time: Bubblegum and Marceline, featuring a 10-episode run centered on this beloved couple. The official synopsis hints at an exciting adventure as Bubblegum and Marceline “journey across the farthest reaches of Ooo, encountering familiar faces and new dangers.”

This new series is helmed by Adam Muto, an Emmy-winning veteran of Adventure Time, who returns as showrunner and executive producer after his work on Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake and Adventure Time: Distant Lands. He will be joined by executive producers Fred Seibert and Sam Register, with production in collaboration with Cartoon Network Studios.

Bubblegum and Marceline have been fan favorites in the Adventure Time universe for years. The community affectionately dubbed them “Bubbline” long before their relationship was officially acknowledged in the 2018 finale, where they shared a kiss that was celebrated by fans everywhere.

Since that moment, their popularity has only surged, fueled by fan art, online communities, and appearances in subsequent Adventure Time projects. A spinoff like this feels not only fitting but also highly anticipated.

“Continuing in the spirit of Fionna & Cake, I’m thrilled that the next Adventure Time series will spotlight two of my favorite characters: Bubblegum & Marceline,” Muto expressed. “It’s been a fantastic opportunity to revisit old friends and expand the Adventure Time universe.”

Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO & HBO Max Comedy Programming, shared her excitement for Muto’s ongoing contributions to the franchise.

“We can’t wait to see where Adam’s boundless imagination takes us in this new series,” Gravitt stated. “It’s such a joy to embark on another Adventure Time journey with our friends and partners at Cartoon Network Studios.”

The series is currently in development, with no release date announced yet.
