Burger King Unveils ‘Super Saiyan Sauce’ Inspired by Dragon Ball
Fast food joints have a notorious reputation for their movie tie-ins, and one of the most memorable examples is Rick and Morty’s quirky obsession with Szechuan sauce from the 1998 Mulan and McDonald’s collaboration. Now, Burger King is stepping up to the plate with a legendary character: Goku.
“Burger King is channeling the cosmic energy of the anime multiverse directly to your taste buds,” reads a promotional message. “To celebrate one of the most cherished anime franchises, Burger King is rolling out a limited-time Dragon Ball Super menu filled with bold flavors and immersive packaging that’s sure to excite fans of all ages.”
Kicking off on September 1, this promotion will feature special menu items and exclusive anime figurines. Among the combos is the Dragon Ball Super Power Up Pack, which includes a 10-piece chicken nugget meal with Super Saiyan sauce, a medium fry, Dragon Ball Burst lemonade, and one of the collectible figurines.
The Super Saiyan sauce is described as “a sweet, savory, and tangy teriyaki-style sauce inspired by the beloved Dragon Ball Super characters.” The lemonade boasts a mango peach flavor with boba that “brings the magic of the Dragon Balls to every sip.” Collectors can look forward to six figurines: Goku, Super Saiyan God Goku, Vegeta, Super Saiyan God Vegeta, Piccolo, and Beerus. There’s also a King Jr. meal option that includes a toy.
Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball is not only one of the best-selling manga series but also one of the most popular anime franchises ever. The latest addition to the series is Dragon Ball Daima, a light-hearted spin-off set after Dragon Ball Z. Looking ahead, fans can anticipate Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, a remaster of the anime’s Beerus arc featuring new animation, followed by Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, which adapts the manga arc of the same name. There are also exciting projects in the works outside of anime, like the upcoming action RPG Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3. If there was ever any doubt about Dragon Ball’s impact in the U.S., it has now officially joined the ranks of fast food crossovers, a true hallmark of American capitalism.
So, get ready to power up, but remember, you can only go Super Saiyan for a limited time!
