Call of Duty: Warzone to End Support for PS4 and Xbox One Later This Year
Activision is set to end support for Call of Duty: Warzone on PS4 and Xbox One later this year. Players will need to upgrade to a PS5 or Xbox Series S/X to keep playing after the conclusion of season 6 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
Starting June 4th, Call of Duty: Warzone will be removed from the PS4 and Xbox One storefronts, making it unavailable for download. The in-game store for Warzone on these older consoles will be shut down on June 25th, and the game will no longer be playable once season 1 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 kicks off later this year.
This news comes at a tough time for Warzone fans still using older consoles, especially since both Microsoft and Sony have raised the prices of their systems over the past year. The PS5 and Xbox Series X now cost $150 more than their original launch price of $499.
The announcement regarding Warzone support coincided with the reveal of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 for current-gen consoles. This new title will be available on PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and Nintendo’s Switch 2, marking the first Call of Duty release on the Switch 2 following a 10-year agreement between Microsoft and Nintendo as part of the Activision Blizzard acquisition.
