Capcom Addresses Performance Boost from $500 DLC in Monster Hunter Wilds

Earlier this month, players of Monster Hunter Wilds on PC noticed that the game’s hub areas ran significantly smoother if they had purchased all $500 worth of DLC. Capcom has since acknowledged that this was due to a coding error, which has now been addressed in the latest patch.

The Monster Hunter Wilds Ver. 1.040.03.01 update not only confirms the existence of the issue but also details its cause in the patch notes. Capcom stated that they were made aware of the problem through player feedback.

According to the statement, this was a “Steam-specific” issue stemming from a coding mistake that increased the processing load during checks for “unclaimed content.” Essentially, the game’s checks for missing DLC were causing frame rate drops in the Base Camp and Grand Hub areas.

“Our internal testing confirmed that CPU load could increase around the Support Desk at Base Camp or the Grand Hub,” the patch notes explained. “This is due to claimed content status check processes to notify the player if there is unclaimed content in the Support Desk… This is an unintended bug and will be resolved with this update.”

The update has also enhanced overall performance, and Capcom has promised an additional stability and performance patch set to release on February 18. Things are looking up for this open-world cooking simulator.

Players are already praising the latest performance patch for Monster Hunter Wilds, with one enthusiastic comment stating, “THEY DID IT!”
