Capcom Cautions Monster Hunter Wilds Players About Potential Issues with Mods Before Title Update 4
Capcom has issued a heads-up for players gearing up for the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds update, cautioning that mods may not function as expected after the release.
In today’s gaming landscape, updates are a common occurrence, whether you’re diving into a single-player RPG or battling it out in a multiplayer shooter. With the surge in PC gaming, mods have also gained immense popularity. However, this popularity can lead to complications when game updates clash with mods—like what happened with Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition, which delayed Fallout: London due to mod-related issues. Sometimes, updates can break mods, or mods can cause problems when a new update drops.
In a recent tweet, Capcom warned players, “If you have installed unofficial programs, such as Mods, these are not guaranteed to work and could cause compatibility issues, preventing you from launching the game or triggering game crashes.” They advise, “If you encounter problems, please completely uninstall any Mods, recheck the integrity of the game files, and then start the game.”
Additionally, Capcom recommends updating graphics drivers, specifically NVIDIA GeForce: 581.57 or AMD Radeon: 25.9.1 or higher, but notes that AMD Radeon version 25.10.2 has “some issues.”
Fingers crossed that this update brings significant performance improvements, as Monster Hunter Wilds could certainly benefit from it after a challenging year. However, Capcom has indicated that performance fixes will be rolled out in three phases leading up to the February update, so expectations should be tempered. If they manage to get everything sorted by the time the G-Rank expansion launches, it might just redeem the experience.
