Capcom Challenges Fans to Create Their Own Mega Man Boss for Dual Overdrive
As revealed during The Game Awards, Mega Man is set to make a triumphant return in a new title, Mega Man: Dual Overdrive. Since its inception in 1987, the notorious Dr. Wily has been crafting robot bosses to thwart Mega Man’s efforts to stop his evil schemes. Now, players have the chance to create a robot boss for Mega Man to battle in Dual Overdrive. The Mega Man: Dual Overdrive Robot Design Contest is underway, but there are some guidelines to follow. Capcom has a specific concept in mind for this boss, seeking a Robot Master with a right arm that boasts “immense suction powers.” Using the template provided by Capcom, players aged 13 and older are invited to add their unique flair to this antagonist. Full contest details can be found on Capcom’s site, with entries accepted from Japan, North America, South America, Europe, and Asia until January 1, 2026, at 11:59 PM PST. To submit their designs, contestants must follow the @Megaman account on X. Capcom’s team will sift through the submissions to select the top six entries, from which the ultimate winner will be chosen. Only the grand prize winner’s design will make it into Mega Man: Dual Overdrive, but all six finalists will have their names featured in the game’s credits. Mega Man: Dual Overdrive is slated for release on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC in 2027. While a specific release date hasn’t been announced yet, 2027 will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the original Mega Man. Additionally, Capcom hinted at upcoming Mega Man titles, along with new entries in the Ace Attorney and Devil May Cry series. Fans can also look forward to a compilation release of the Mega Man Star Force Legacy titles on modern consoles in 2026.
