Capcom Commits Fully to Switch 2 Launch in 2026
Capcom is ramping up its support for the Switch 2 with two exciting new ports: Onimusha: Way of the Sword, set to launch alongside other platforms on September 25, and the highly anticipated role-playing game Dragon’s Dogma 2, which will arrive in an expanded edition titled Dark Arisen on October 9.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen introduces players to a new snowy region called Norgan, adding fresh exploration opportunities. The game also features a revamped loot system known as spoils, allowing players to collect items during their journey that can be appraised for new weapons, armor, and skills.
While Capcom hasn’t confirmed whether Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen will be available on other platforms or as an expansion for the original game, it’s likely that it will be.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword retains the core experience of previous versions, but the Switch 2 edition will incorporate Joy-Con 2 motion controls for swordplay, enhancing the gameplay experience.
Additionally, Capcom is set to release a Switch 2 version of Devil May Cry 5 on June 23. This Devil Hunter Edition includes some minor extra content and boasts a smooth 60 frames per second performance in both handheld and docked modes.
Capcom’s commitment to the Switch 2 is evident, as they continue to roll out nearly all their major titles for the platform. This year, both Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata received solid Switch 2 versions on the same day as their releases on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X. At the recent Summer Game Fest, Capcom announced plans to bring Resident Evil: Veronica to the Switch 2, along with PlayStation, Xbox, and PC in 2027, and also hinted at a Switch 2 port of Monster Hunter Wilds.
Goodbye, tank controls.
