Capcom surprises fans with unexpected free DLC for Resident Evil Requiem.

It’s an exciting time for fans of Resident Evil Requiem, as Capcom has quietly rolled out a brand-new minigame mode for the survival horror experience. The best part? It’s a free update that you can dive into right now on all platforms.

Titled Leon Must Die Forever, this mode plunges Leon into an unending nightmare. Players will need to navigate through various stages while “unlocking exclusive enhancer abilities,” as noted in Capcom’s official trailer. To access this mode, you’ll need to have completed the main story, which explains the recent push from developers for players to finish the game.

Capcom describes the gameplay as fast-paced and distinct from the main story mode, offering plenty of replay value. The challenge is to survive until the end and defeat the boss within a set time limit. For those seeking an even tougher experience, multiple difficulty levels are available, including an “extreme high-difficulty mode” designed for the most skilled players.

Since the update dropped overnight, some players have already shared their experiences. One Reddit user mentioned that the mode is “harder than Resident Evil 4’s Mercenaries mode and definitely demands a bit more strategy on your part. Pretty fun.”

This isn’t the only new content on the horizon for Requiem. In March, the game director confirmed that a story expansion is in the works, though it will take some time to complete, so players are encouraged to be patient.

The Leon Must Die Forever mode is now live for Resident Evil Requiem on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch 2.
