Capcom’s NES Disney collection, featuring classics like DuckTales and Rescue Rangers, may be headed to Switch nearly a decade after its original release, following a new ESRB rating.

Capcom’s The Disney Afternoon Collection might finally make its way to the Nintendo Switch after nine years, as a new ESRB rating has surfaced with a different publisher listed.

Capcom has a solid track record of re-releasing collections, with nearly every title from the Mega Man and Ace Attorney franchises getting the compilation treatment—except for the elusive Mega Man Legends, which remains a pricey find.

One of the standout collections was 2017’s The Disney Afternoon Collection, crafted by Digital Eclipse. This compilation featured six NES titles based on beloved Disney cartoons, including classics like DuckTales, Darkwing Duck, and Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, with DuckTales often hailed as one of the finest NES games ever.

Strangely, despite being NES titles, the collection never made its way to Nintendo platforms, even though it launched just a month after the Nintendo Switch. That could soon change, as the ESRB has rated The Disney Afternoon Collection for both the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Interestingly, the rating lists Atari, the owner of Digital Eclipse, as the publisher instead of Capcom, which handled the original release.

While details are sparse, it’s reasonable to expect that this will be the same collection of six NES games adapted for the Switch family. Ideally, it would also include Capcom’s other Disney Afternoon titles from the SNES era, like Bonkers and Goof Troop, the latter of which was designed by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami. Given that Digital Eclipse previously enhanced its Disney Classic Games Collection to feature the Capcom version of Aladdin, there’s hope they’ll work similar magic this time around.
