Chappell Roan’s Fortnite debut trailer is a standout in gaming history.

I was already buzzing with excitement about theMidwest Princess hopping ontoFortnite’s Battle Bus, but the stunning trailer that dropped on Thursday took my hype to another level. This animation isn’t just a contender for the bestFortnitetrailer ever; it might actually be one of the most breathtaking gaming trailers I’ve ever seen.

Clocking in at just a minute, the trailer showcases the pop sensation’s iconic fantasy VMA costume, packed with a level of artistry that’s hard to find in video game promos. Despite its brief runtime, the Chappell Roan trailer seamlessly transitions through three distinct animation styles: stop-motion, an embroidered tapestry aesthetic, and sleek anime visuals. These styles blend together to create an experience that feels like stepping into a classic Grimm fairy tale.

In the first half, you might not even realize this is tied toFortnite. Chappell is depicted battling a variety of fantastical creatures that aren’t part of the battle royale. She even takes down a menacing donkey-like beast, a subtle nod toFortnite’s iconic purple piñata.

Eventually, Chappell breaks through to theFortniteisland, commanding the crowd as if she’s leading them into the Pink Pony Club. When the scene shifts to a concert filled with cheering fans, it feels like a spell has been lifted. Oh, this is a promo forFortnite, not just an alternate music video for one of Chappell Roan’s hits.

When Chappell first unveiled this look in 2024, fans joked that her outfit made her look like she belonged inDark Souls—or at least in some kind of video game. ThisFortnitetrailer, along with Chappell’s eye-catching Grammy 2026 outfit, definitely backs up those comparisons.

While Epic Games hasn’t revealed the artists behind the fantastic animation, it’s something worth recognizing. For now, I’m definitely adding some V-Bucks to myFortniteaccount.
