Check Out the Top Kindle Deals Available Now

When it comes to choosing a device for reading ebooks, you have several options. While tablets and smartphones are versatile and can handle everything from browsing the web to social media, if your primary goal is reading, e-readers are specifically designed for that purpose. These devices create a virtual library for your books, offering a focused reading experience with limited extra features.

Amazon has been a key player in the e-reader market for years, continuously expanding its Kindle lineup with various models, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. Most Kindles serve as straightforward ebook readers, but the Kindle Scribe takes a step further by incorporating writing capabilities, making future models feel more like traditional paper.

Recently, two new Scribe models were released: the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, which features a vibrant color display, and a mid-tier black-and-white model known as the Amazon Kindle Scribe 32GB. An entry-level Scribe without a front light is also on the horizon, though a release date hasn’t been confirmed yet. Meanwhile, many of Amazon’s previous-generation e-readers are still available at attractive discounts.

What does it mean when a Kindle is “ad-supported”?
Kindle e-readers come in various storage options, and you can choose between models with or without ads. Ad-supported Kindles display personalized ads on the lock screen during sleep mode or at the bottom of the home screen when connected to Wi-Fi. Opting for the ad-supported version typically saves you around $20, and if you later decide to remove the ads, you can pay a one-time fee to do so.

The latest entry-level Kindle, priced at $109.99, was launched in 2024. It features a bright 94-nit display, improved contrast, and quicker page turns compared to the 2022 model. It also comes in a “matcha” green color option for those who want something different from the standard black. Aside from these updates, it remains similar to its predecessor, with a six-inch 300ppi screen, USB-C support, and 16GB of base storage.

In the past, the ad-supported Kindle has been available for as low as $79.99 with three months of Kindle Unlimited. Currently, the base model is available at its full retail price of $109.99.

Amazon also refreshed its Kindle Kids model in late 2024. This version mirrors the standard Kindle but includes accessories and age-appropriate content for younger readers. The Kindle Kids retails for $129.99, which is $20 more than the base model.

The Kindle Kids edition comes with four items: the device, a protective case, a two-year extended replacement guarantee, and six months of Amazon Kids Plus. This last feature is a major selling point, granting access to games, videos, and books, including popular series like Percy Jackson and Harry Potter, at no extra cost.

The latest Kindle Kids has previously been discounted to $94.99, but it is currently available at its full price of $129.99.

The newest Kindle Paperwhite, launched in 2024, is Amazon’s 12th-generation model. As one of the higher-end options, it includes all the features of the entry-level Kindle, such as USB-C charging and a sharp 300ppi display. It’s faster than the base model and offers IPX8 waterproofing, a larger seven-inch display, and extended battery life.

During major sales events, the standard Paperwhite has been seen for as low as $124.99. However, it is currently available for its full retail price of $159.99. If you’re interested in a bundle, you can find it at Amazon with a power adapter and a fabric cover for $196.97, or with a plant-based leather cover for $202.97.

The latest Paperwhite is available in several configurations, including an ad-free Signature Edition that features 32GB of storage, Qi wireless charging, and an auto-adjusting backlight. The Signature Edition has previously been discounted to $149.99, but it is currently priced at $199.99.

Amazon also introduced a Kindle Paperwhite Kids for $179.99 in 2024. This model is identical to the standard Paperwhite but is ad-free and includes optional parental controls. It comes with a kid-friendly cover, a two-year extended replacement guarantee, and six months of Amazon Kids Plus.

While the Kindle Paperwhite Kids has been known to drop to $129.99 during sales, it is currently available for its usual price of $179.99.

The third-generation Kindle Scribe, released late last year, features an 11-inch display with a 300ppi resolution and 32GB of storage. It maintains the excellent battery life that Kindles are known for. What sets the Scribe apart is its included stylus, allowing users to take notes or doodle in the built-in notebook. The latest version also introduces a Premium Pen, a front light, and slimmer bezels compared to its predecessor.

The third-gen Scribe is currently priced at $499.99, while a more affordable version with 16GB of storage and no front light is expected to launch soon at $429.99.

The newly launched Kindle Scribe Colorsoft adds color to the mix, maintaining the same dimensions as the third-gen Scribe. It features front lighting and the ability to take and upload notes, although the colors may not be as vibrant as expected. The Colorsoft is currently available for $629.99, with a 64GB version priced at $679.99.

If you’re looking to save some money, the second-gen Kindle Scribe is available with 16GB and a Premium Pen for $399.99. The 32GB version is just $20 more, or you can find the 16GB Scribe bundled with a power adapter, Premium Pen, and a plant-based leather cover starting at $444.97.

Toward the end of 2024, Amazon launched the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, featuring a seven-inch display with a 300ppi resolution, IPX8 water resistance, wireless charging, and 32GB of storage. Unlike the Paperwhite, it offers a color mode, which reduces the resolution but still provides a vibrant experience for reading comics and manga.

A more affordable Colorsoft model with 16GB of storage has also been introduced, lacking wireless charging and an auto-adjusting front light, but otherwise identical to the first-gen model. The 16GB version retails for $249.99, while the 32GB Signature Edition is available for $279.99.

You can find savings on the step-up model if you purchase it as part of a bundle for $327.97, which includes a wireless charging dock and a plant-based leather cover. For a more premium experience, a leather cover option is available for $349.97.

In July 2025, a kid-friendly version of the Colorsoft was announced, featuring 16GB of storage and an MSRP of $269.99. This model includes a seven-inch color display and IPX8 water resistance, but lacks wireless charging. It comes with a cover, a one-year subscription to Amazon Kids Plus, an extended warranty, and optional parental controls.

While it has previously been discounted to $189.99, the Colorsoft Kids is currently available at its full retail price of $269.99.
