Chris Pratt jokes about not becoming the new Batman after teasing James Gunn with a photo in the iconic cowl.
Chris Pratt recently shared that he once jokingly pitched himself as Batman to James Gunn, even sending a selfie with a Photoshopped cowl. While he insisted it was all in good fun, Gunn’s tepid response made it clear to Pratt that he won’t be donning the cape anytime soon.
“[James] just said, ‘Haha,'” Pratt chuckled during an appearance on a podcast while promoting his upcoming AI thriller, Mercy. “It’s safe to say I am not going to be Batman.”
Pratt and Gunn have collaborated on all three Guardians of the Galaxy films, but it seems Gunn isn’t keen on casting his friends as the iconic heroes in the upcoming DC lineup.
However, there may still be a chance for Pratt in the DC universe. He mentioned that he and Gunn have discussed a potential role, although nothing is set in stone. “I think there’s some that I think I could play and he probably feels the same way. I’d like to be mysterious and lead people on a little bit, but honestly, I don’t know. I don’t know what that character would be. I’d love to work with him again, though.”
In related news, it was recently announced that The Brave and the Bold, which will introduce Batman to the DC universe, will be written by Christina Hodson. Known for her work on superhero films like Birds of Prey and The Flash, Hodson will collaborate again with The Flash’s director, Andy Muschietti, for this new project.
Mercy is currently in theaters, while The Brave and the Bold has yet to announce a release date.
