Chris Pratt teases more character surprises in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie after Rosalina and Bowser Jr. make their debut: “People should be excited.”

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is set to bring a host of beloved Nintendo characters to life on the big screen, as teased in the sequel’s trailer. Mario’s voice actor, Chris Pratt, has hinted that fans can look forward to even more familiar faces making an appearance in the film.

When asked about new characters he’s excited to see, Pratt responded, “Oh, yes, there are. I’m not allowed to say what they are, but yes, there are some really incredible… Well, I think some of them have been released in the trailer – Rosalina, Bowser Jr. – and then there’s even a couple more that are not in the trailer that people should be excited to see.”

The first trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which dropped in November 2025, confirmed that Brie Larson will voice the cosmic guardian Princess Rosalina, while Benny Safdie takes on the role of Bowser Jr., the heir to the Fire Kingdom.

They join a star-studded cast that features Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, and Jack Black as Bowser. However, the identities of the additional characters that have yet to be revealed remain a mystery.

In our conversation with Pratt, the focus was primarily on his upcoming film, the AI action thriller Mercy, where he portrays a detective accused of murdering his wife. He has just 90 minutes to prove his innocence to an AI judge, played by Rebecca Ferguson, before facing execution.

Mercy is set to hit theaters on January 23, with The Super Mario Galaxy Movie following closely on April 3.
