Chris Pratt, the actor behind Star-Lord, finds the Avengers: Doomsday trailers “really exciting” but hints that Peter Quill may not make an appearance, saying, “I can’t wait to see it.”
When the roster for Avengers: Doomsday was unveiled during an extensive livestream last year, one of the most surprising absences was Chris Pratt, known for his role as Star-Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy series, amidst a lineup of nearly every significant Marvel character from the past two decades.
Marvel has a reputation for keeping things under wraps, but when asked about the four Doomsday teasers featuring iconic characters like Steve Rogers, Thor, the X-Men, and the Wakandans, Pratt played it close to the vest, hinting that he might not be part of the film after all.
“I think they are awesome. I think it was really exciting,” Pratt shared during a conversation about his new sci-fi thriller, Mercy. “I’m not sure what I’m allowed to [say]. I think they’re great. I think they’re really exciting. I can’t wait to see it.”
If Pratt is eager to see Doomsday, does that imply he won’t be returning as Star-Lord? The actor portrayed Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, in the Guardians trilogy, as well as in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, but he hasn’t donned the role since 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
As for the confirmed cast in the Russo Brothers’ upcoming MCU installment, fans can look forward to seeing Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Letitia Wright, Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Florence Pugh, Tom Hiddleston, Simu Liu, Patrick Stewart, and Ian McKellen, among others.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18.
