Civilization 7 Launches on Mobile, Exclusive to Apple Arcade
Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 Arcade Edition is set to join the Apple Arcade lineup on February 5, bringing along a selection of other exciting new titles. This version will be available for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, but there are currently no plans for an Android release. Originally launched last February for PC and consoles, Civilization 7 is a 4X strategy game that allows players to lead a civilization through various historical eras. Similar to the mobile adaptation of Civilization 6, the content in Civilization 7 Arcade Edition matches that of its PC and console counterparts, ensuring it’s not just a lesser version. One of the standout features of this edition is its user interface, which has been optimized for touch controls on iPhone and iPad. For now, the closest experience on other devices is using a touchscreen as a cursor on a PC handheld or Nintendo Switch 2.
This port was crafted by Behaviour Interactive, known for their work on Dead by Daylight, and it marks their latest venture into mobile gaming, following titles like Worms Across Worlds and Fallout Shelter. While Civilization 7 Arcade Edition is certainly the highlight of the upcoming releases on Apple Arcade, it’s not the only game making its debut. The announcement also mentions several other titles and events coming soon, including the retro game collection Retrocade, the rhythm game Felicity’s Door, and a microtransaction-free version of I Love Hue Too, all launching on February 5. Additionally, a Paddington-themed event will be featured in Apple Arcade’s Crayola Create and Play+ starting January 22, adding even more variety to the gaming experience.
