Clair Obscur’s new DLC has players struggling with its difficulty.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s free DLC dropped right after the 2025 Game Awards on December 11, and players have been grappling with its steep difficulty ever since. The “Thank You Update” introduces a photo mode, expanded localizations, and a new area called Verso’s Drafts, along with some of the toughest bosses the game has to offer.
Verso’s Drafts features its own challenging final boss, and the DLC also adds more encounters to the Endless Tower, where players are really feeling the heat. Many have taken to Reddit to vent their frustrations and share their experiences with the community.
“Duolliste had me screaming,” one player shared, highlighting the tough second phase of the Duollistes. Another post lamented, “Endless Tower DLC is killing me.” One player even reflected, “I’ve come to terms with the fact I’m too casual of a gamer to ever beat the new Endless Tower bosses.” Thankfully, Expedition 33 players can adjust the difficulty if the challenges become overwhelming, thanks to star Jennifer English.
The new bosses in the Endless Tower have sparked conversations about the game’s overall difficulty and balance, with some players feeling that the Endless Tower presents “pure artificial difficulty.” Without giving too much away, the additions ramp up the combo lengths and damage output of the base game’s already tough Act 3 bosses. Ultimately, these bosses are designed to be incredibly challenging endgame content, and they seem to be fulfilling that role.
But let’s not forget the DLC’s ultimate test: another Gestral Beach. Good luck out there, everyone!
