Classic 3D platformer Rayman 2 arrives on Nintendo Switch Online next week.
Rayman 2: The Great Escape, often hailed as one of the best 3D platformers from the N64 era, is set to join Nintendo Switch Online on December 17.
A recently released trailer showcased both Rayman 2 and the lesser-known 3D platformer Tonic Trouble, which was also created by Ubisoft veteran Michael Ancel. These titles will be accessible to anyone with a Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership next week as part of the Nintendo Classics collection, featuring a selection of timeless gems.
Since its debut on the N64 in 1999, Rayman 2 has seen multiple ports and re-releases across platforms like PC, Dreamcast, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS, iOS, and most recently, it was a launch title for the Nintendo 3DS in 2011. This enduring popularity speaks volumes about its smooth controls and innovative level design, which remain impressive even today. While you can still grab Rayman 2 for PC on GOG for a few bucks, Switch owners will soon enjoy this classic platformer at no extra cost.
On the other hand, Tonic Trouble never quite reached the same heights as Rayman 2, and I had to refresh my memory to recall it. However, it will also be available in the Switch Online’s N64 catalog on the same day, perfect for some lighthearted, nostalgic fun during the holiday season.
In the meantime, there are plenty of great Switch 2 games to dive into right now.
