Claude AI by Anthropic Now Supports Visual Responses with Charts and Diagrams

Anthropic has rolled out an exciting update for Claude, enabling the AI chatbot to create custom charts, diagrams, and other visual aids right in the middle of your conversation. If Claude identifies that a visual would enhance your discussion, it will seamlessly insert the image inline instead of relegating it to a side panel.

For instance, if you’re chatting about the periodic table, Claude might generate an interactive visualization that allows you to click on elements for more details. Another scenario could involve Claude producing a diagram to illustrate how weight is distributed throughout a building.

While Claude will automatically decide when to generate a visual, you can also prompt it to create a diagram, table, or chart on request. This update comes on the heels of similar features introduced by other AI platforms, which can also produce interactive visualizations for math and science topics.

Previously, Claude offered the ability to create charts, documents, tools, and apps through its “artifacts” feature, which operates in a side panel for interaction, sharing, and downloading. However, it’s important to note that while artifacts remain available, the visuals generated during conversations will evolve or vanish as the chat continues. You can also request modifications to any visuals Claude creates.

These new visualization capabilities are being rolled out to all users and will be enabled by default.
