Claude Code is now available on Slack.

Slack users can now tap into Anthropic’s Claude Code directly within their chats by tagging Claude in coding-related messages and threads. This new feature is rolling out today in beta as a research preview.

When you tag Claude, it will automatically analyze the message to determine if it involves a coding task. If it does, it will route the request to Claude Code, utilizing context from the Slack thread and any authenticated code repositories. Users can also explicitly indicate that a request is coding-related. For example, you can ask Claude to look into a bug report being discussed in Slack without the hassle of copying all the relevant context into Claude Code.

This feature is part of the existing Claude app for Slack, which previously functioned as an in-app chatbot. If you already have the app, there’s no need to download anything new, but you will need to set up the web version of Claude Code with your desired code repositories.

This enhancement to the Claude Slack app comes shortly after the launch of Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.5 model. Anthropic asserts that this latest version of Claude outperforms Google Gemini 3—known for its impressive benchmarks—specifically in coding tasks, although it still faces some safety and security challenges. Early tests indicated that Opus 4.5 only declined 78 percent of requests to generate malware and other harmful code.
