Clockwork Revolution Unveils Steampunk Heist Gameplay in Latest Trailer
It’s been a while since we last heard from inXile Entertainment regarding Clockwork Revolution, their upcoming action title that blends the steampunk aesthetic reminiscent of BioShock with the RPG elements that fans of Wasteland 3 have come to expect. A recent gameplay reveal during Xbox’s summer showcase provided an exciting glimpse into the game’s mechanics and confirmed its release in 2027 as an Xbox console exclusive.
Set in the industrial city of Avalon, Clockwork Revolution immerses players in a world driven by a network of rival crime lords. You’ll step into the shoes of Morgan Vanette, a customizable character who explores the gritty steampunk landscape alongside a robotic drone companion named Prentice and a unique device known as the Chronometer, which allows for manipulation of time.
The trailer showcases various abilities and introduces Vanette’s crew, the Rotten Row Hooligans, as they embark on a heist that takes a turn for the chaotic.
The main villain, Lady Ironwood, leads a squad of henchmen who will pursue you if you cross her path, hinting at intense FPS-style combat moments throughout the game.
One of the showcased time-manipulating abilities is called Displace, enabling players to move objects in the environment to create new pathways or turn the surroundings against foes. This gives off strong Dishonored vibes, and it would be fantastic if Clockwork Revolution includes a Blink-like ability. Additionally, the game’s time manipulation is set to significantly influence character narratives and relationships.
Game director Chad Moore has indicated that how players utilize the Chronometer to reshape the environment and alter past events will have meaningful repercussions on allies, affecting them in both major and minor ways. While inXile Entertainment emphasizes the unique experiences players will have based on their choices, the latest trailer leaves some questions unanswered. The studio promises to share more details as the launch approaches later this year.
