CoD: Black Ops 7 and Warzone Update Introduces Nerfs for Overpowered Weapons
A fresh update has rolled out for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Warzone on January 13, focusing on weapon balancing for Season 1 Reloaded. Notably, the akimbo version of the Velox 5.7 pistol in Warzone has been nerfed, and the Maddox RFB assault rifle has seen reduced damage ranges in both multiplayer and Zombies modes. The patch notes highlight significant changes to the Maddox RFB, including decreased movement speed, increased recoil, and substantial reductions in damage range. The developers noted that the Maddox RFB was too powerful due to its quick time-to-kill in close quarters, and its manageable recoil allowed it to perform effectively at longer distances than intended. They aim to maintain its high close-range damage, which was a key feature in Black Ops 4, while reducing its overall versatility.
The AK-27 assault rifle’s Battle-Scar conversion has also been adjusted to enhance its usability. Previously, this conversion turned the AK-27 into a slow-firing hybrid between an assault rifle and a marksman rifle, but the developers found the fire rate too punishing. The new buffs include a reduction in fire-rate penalties, removal of movement penalties, and faster aim-down-sight speed. Additionally, the new Sturmwolf 45 has received buffs, including increased damage range and reduced recoil, making it more powerful and easier to control.
In Warzone, the akimbo variant of the Velox 5.7 pistol, which had been dominating the close-range meta, has been hit with a 50% damage reduction when using the akimbo attachment. The AK-27’s Battle-Scar conversion also received adjustments, specifically the removal of movement penalties.
The patch notes detail various weapon tuning changes, including adjustments to the Maddox RFB, Sturmwolf 45, and AK-27, based on early player feedback. The update also includes general adjustments to various weapons, perks, and maps, ensuring a more balanced gameplay experience.
Overall, this update aims to refine weapon performance and maintain a competitive environment in both multiplayer and Zombies modes, while also addressing issues that have arisen in gameplay.
