Commodore 64 Mini Slashes Price and Comes with 25 Modern Titles

The C64 Mini Black Edition is now available at a discounted price for the first time since its launch last October. This Amazon-exclusive retro console is currently priced at $88, down from its original $120. That’s a solid $32 off, but there’s a chance to save even more. Certain shoppers can snag an additional 25% discount, which will be reflected in a coupon box below the price. If you qualify and check the box, the C64 Mini Black Edition can be yours for just $66 at checkout.

Originally released in 2018 for $70, the first C64 Mini came packed with 64 classic games from the 1980s. The Black Edition is a limited release that honors the skilled homebrew developers creating modern Commodore games compatible with original hardware. This version includes 25 contemporary C64 titles, featuring gems like Sam’s Journey, A Pig Quest, and other games that have become iconic in the Commodore 64 community.

Most of the new titles—19 in total—are available on itch.io from reputable Commodore 64 publishers such as Psytronik and Protovision. Psytronik’s games typically retail for around five dollars, while Protovision’s offerings tend to be pricier. The Black Edition includes four Protovision games that would usually cost about $55 combined: Sam’s Journey ($24), A Pig Quest ($11.61), MW Ultra ($11), and Yeti Mountain ($9). These titles are among the most ambitious on the C64. For example, Sam’s Journey features over 2,000 screens across its 30 extensive levels, making it one of the best retro platformers available (it’s also on NES). It’s no wonder the game’s main character graces the front of the Black Edition’s box.
