Control Resonant Surges to Become Remedy’s Best-Selling Game Ever
Remedy Entertainment’s latest mind-bending title, Control Resonant, has quickly become a major hit for the Finnish developer. Just weeks after its launch, the studio announced that the game has surpassed 1 million copies sold.
In a heartfelt message on social media, Remedy expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you for the support ❤️ For playing, sharing, and being a part of the community.” Released on September 24, Control Resonant has garnered mostly positive reviews from critics. This sequel to Remedy’s 2019 game, Control, follows Dylan Faden as he navigates a distorted version of New York while working for the Federal Bureau of Control in search of his missing sister, Jesse, the protagonist from the first installment.
Success in the gaming world can be viewed from different angles. Another title, The Blood of Dawnwalker, also launched in September and achieved 1 million sales within just two days. In contrast, it took Remedy about two months to reach the same milestone with Alan Wake 2 in 2023, while Control Resonant managed to do it in less than half that time. Alan Wake 2 took over a year to turn a profit, so if Control Resonant can achieve that more quickly, it could pave the way for the company’s stable growth.
Remedy is collaborating with Rockstar Games to remake the first two Max Payne games. The studio had been developing another project, codenamed Kestrel, but that was canceled in 2024.
Following its initial release, Remedy added more content to Control and may do the same for Control Resonant, which has numerous unresolved plot threads that could be perfect for DLC. The game even features an Easter egg that teases a potential Alan Wake 3.
