“Coyote vs. ACME Set to Stream on Release Date”
Coyote vs. ACME is making a remarkable comeback. After being abruptly shelved by Warner Bros. Discovery in 2023 as part of a tax write-off, the film’s fate changed following significant public outcry. The studio allowed the filmmakers to seek new distribution options, leading to Ketchup Entertainment acquiring the rights for $50 million in March 2025. The movie finally hit theaters on August 28, 2026, receiving critical acclaim and raking in a solid $80 million globally.
While Coyote vs. ACME is still showing in theaters, we now have the digital release date for Amazon Prime Video. The film will be available starting September 29, 2026, at midnight EDT. Pre-orders are open, with a purchase price of $24.99 on both Prime Video and Apple TV. It’s become increasingly common for films to be released digitally while still in theaters.
The story follows a frustrated Wile E. Coyote, who, after years of unsuccessful attempts to catch the Road Runner, decides to take legal action against the ACME Corporation. With the help of personal injury lawyer Kevin Avery, Coyote sues the company for selling faulty products. Critics have noted that this absurd premise evolves into a compelling legal drama about corporate overreach, mirroring the film’s own struggles with Warner Bros.
Directed by Dave Green, the screenplay is penned by Samy Burch, with story development by James Gunn and Jeremy Slater alongside Burch. The cast features Will Forte as Kevin Avery, along with Lana Condor, John Cena, and Luis Guzmán. Coyote vs. ACME adds to the Looney Tunes legacy, following 2025’s The Day the Earth Blew Up and 2021’s Space Jam: A New Legacy.
John Cena is stepping in as Tweety’s new comedic sidekick, leaving Sylvester in the dust.
