Crimson Desert Wows Players with Rapidly Introduced Feature: “Do They Ever Sleep?”
Crimson Desert’s developers are back at it, rolling out another significant update that enhances the endgame experience for players who can’t get enough of its intricately crafted medieval sandbox. Patch 1.05.00 is now live, just a week after the game’s largest update to date, and it introduces a feature that allows players to refresh the map with new strongholds to conquer.
“We recognize that as more areas of the continent were liberated, combat opportunities naturally dwindled,” the developers noted in the latest patch notes. “To maintain the challenge, we’ve added the Rematch and Re-blockade content.” This feature enables players to revisit and battle up to 69 previously defeated bosses, with the option to tackle them on a newly introduced higher difficulty. While no new loot will be earned, players won’t lose any consumables used during these encounters.
Patch 1.05 also reignites conflict across the expansive regions of Pywel. The “Re-blockade” toggle allows players to revert a cleared map back to a state of war. By activating this feature, 13 different factions can initiate re-blockades across 23 forts and quarries on the map. For those who prefer a quieter experience, they can keep the setting on “stable,” while others will witness a dynamic shift in power that keeps them and their Greymanes engaged.
This update is packed with bug fixes and gameplay adjustments, including improvements to long-standing issues like the interaction with gold bars scattered throughout the world, which were previously unreachable. Players can now collect these bars, yielding a Crude Gold Bar worth 5 Silver. Additionally, legendary animals like the Iron Eagle and Hyacinth Macaw can now be kept as pets, along with various UI enhancements.
Fans of Crimson Desert have been impressed by the rapid pace and extensive nature of these post-launch updates, which treat the single-player open-world experience almost like a live service MMO that the developers typically maintain. One fan even wondered on a forum, “How big is this dev team? Do they even sleep?” It’s clear they’re being rewarded for their hard work, as reports indicate that developers received $2.5 million in bonuses after the game surpassed 5 million copies sold.
“We are committed to refining these features, and this update marks the initial step in implementing their core systems,” the team stated in the patch notes. “As we build upon this foundation in future updates, we aim to enhance the content and create a richer world, so we hope you’re excited for what’s coming next.” With players still deeply engaged in Crimson Desert, the developers are clearly dedicated to its ongoing improvement.
